Deep Sky Metallic is Opel paint code GWJ. Opel used GWJ on the Astra, Insignia, Astra Sports Tourer, Zafira from 2012 to 2017. GWJ is a metallic, high gloss finish. Deep Sky Metallic also appears as code 167V and 22S. Deep Sky Metallic is sold as Azurblau Metallic in other markets. Will GWJ match my Opel if the paint has faded?
The kit is mixed to the GWJ formula — the same code printed on your vehicle’s paint label — not colour-matched by eye. On panels that still carry their factory paint, that reproduces the original tone.
Where it will not match
- Panels bleached by years of sun sit lighter than the factory formula. The kit reproduces the original colour, not the faded one.
- A panel that has already been resprayed is no longer the factory colour, so the code will not describe it.
- Metallic and pearl finishes are harder to blend across a large area than solid colours — they are at their best on chips and thin scratches.
- Damage larger than a few centimetres, or down to bare metal over a wide area, is body-shop work.
