Black is Jeep paint code X9. Jeep used X9 on the Renegade, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Cherokee from 1997 to 2021. X9 is a solid, matte finish. Black also appears as code AB7DX9. Black is sold as Black Matte in other markets. Of the 22 Jeep black colours ordered from us, 12 have been ordered more often than Black.

Which Jeep models came in Black (X9)?
Will X9 match my Jeep if the paint has faded?
The kit is mixed to the X9 formula — the same code printed on your vehicle’s paint label — not colour-matched by eye. On panels that still carry their factory paint, that reproduces the original tone.
Where it will not match
- Panels bleached by years of sun sit lighter than the factory formula. The kit reproduces the original colour, not the faded one.
- A panel that has already been resprayed is no longer the factory colour, so the code will not describe it.
- Metallic and pearl finishes are harder to blend across a large area than solid colours — they are at their best on chips and thin scratches.
- Damage larger than a few centimetres, or down to bare metal over a wide area, is body-shop work.

Just as advertised! Works well to seal little scratches in the finish of my 2011 Jeep.
