Black is Jeep paint code DX9. Jeep used DX9 on the Renegade, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Compass from 2004 to 2021. DX9 is a solid, matte finish. Black is sold as Black Matte in other markets. Of the 22 Jeep black colours ordered from us, 11 have been ordered more often than Black.

Which Jeep models came in Black (DX9)?
Will DX9 match my Jeep if the paint has faded?
The kit is mixed to the DX9 formula — the same code printed on your vehicle’s paint label — not colour-matched by eye. On panels that still carry their factory paint, that reproduces the original tone.
Where it will not match
- Panels bleached by years of sun sit lighter than the factory formula. The kit reproduces the original colour, not the faded one.
- A panel that has already been resprayed is no longer the factory colour, so the code will not describe it.
- Metallic and pearl finishes are harder to blend across a large area than solid colours — they are at their best on chips and thin scratches.
- Damage larger than a few centimetres, or down to bare metal over a wide area, is body-shop work.

Just as advertised! Works well to seal little scratches in the finish of my 2011 Jeep.
